Boost Watch, Week 8: Price is back, Ioane is out

November’s first game is in. Jadarian Price is back off injured reserve with twelve touches, Olaivavega Ioane missed Week 8 with an MCL sprain, and twelve of the fourteen Future Stars are still live for a clean +3. Anthony Hill and Max Iheanachor are the best placed.

Week 8 is logged, and the headline is a swap: Jadarian Price is back after four weeks on injured reserve, and Olaivavega Ioane is out with an MCL sprain. November’s first game is in the books.

Ten Future Stars played, two missed and two had a bye. November runs five games, Weeks 8 to 12, and a bye shortens a card’s month rather than costing it anything.

What November pays if the rest of the month goes this way. Arvell Reese and Jordyn Tyson had their byes, so their months have not started and show no projection yet. Olaivavega Ioane and Fernando Mendoza have one miss each, which caps them at +2. A second miss drops either to +1.

The ten who played

JADARIAN PRICE — RB, Seattle Seahawks. Activated off injured reserve and played on Monday night against Chicago: 10 carries for 29 yards, plus 2 catches for 8 yards. The volume is real, because twelve touches is a genuine role and not a cameo. The efficiency is not, at 2.9 a carry, and he is splitting the work with Charbonnet. For the boost, he is live again for the first time since Week 3.

ANTHONY HILL — LB, Tennessee Titans. A career-high 14 tackles, 10 of them solo, in a 43–36 shootout loss at Cincinnati. He is at 82 tackles through eight games, still the most productive card on the list.

MAKAI LEMON — WR, Philadelphia Eagles. 6 catches for 57 yards, his best receiving day as a pro, in a 27–10 Sunday night loss at Washington. Most of it was short stuff setting up manageable third downs, which is exactly the role that keeps a receiver on the field. Philadelphia has now lost six straight and sits 2–6.

MAX IHEANACHOR — OT, Pittsburgh Steelers. A sixth straight start. The Steelers beat Cleveland 27–6 and are rolling.

CALEB DOWNS — S, Dallas Cowboys. 4 tackles in a 33–30 loss to Arizona. Dallas is 3–5.

JAKE SLAUGHTER — C, Los Angeles Chargers. Started at center in a 24–9 loss to the Rams. The Chargers are 0–7.

PETER WOODS — DT, Kansas City Chiefs. Played at Denver, and his splits now show seven games played this season.

KENYON SADIQ — TE, New York Jets. 1 catch for 22 yards in a 38–33 loss to the Raiders, and the Jets’ tight ends got a C in the local report card. He is playing. He just is not being thrown to.

AVIEON TERRELL — CB, Atlanta Falcons. Back off the inactive list after missing Week 7. The Falcons were shut out 16–0 by Tampa Bay.

DERRICK MOORE — DE, Detroit Lions. Active in a 19–15 win over Minnesota, with no recorded stats. That is normal for a rotational edge at his snap share, but it makes him the least certain of the ten: low-snap rotational players are the ones who quietly get dressed and never used.

Who sat out?

FERNANDO MENDOZA — QB, Las Vegas Raiders. Zero snaps again. Kirk Cousins went 19 of 26 for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 38–33 win, and Las Vegas is 4–4 and back in it. That is the worst possible development for his playing time.

ARVELL REESE — LB, New York Giants. On bye, which banks a free week. November now asks four games of him.

JORDYN TYSON — WR, New Orleans Saints. On bye as well, and still without a practice this season. A Week 9 debut would leave him four games for a clean +3.

Injury report

OLAIVAVEGA IOANE — OG, Baltimore Ravens. Ruled inactive with the MCL sprain from Week 7, and Andrew Vorhees started at right guard. He practiced on Thursday in a brace and was limited, and Baltimore held him out anyway. The Ravens lost 36–10 at Buffalo. The reporting calls the injury short-term, so Week 9 is realistic, but the miss is already banked.

The rest of the month

One game of five is in. Where each card stands, and what it needs for a clean +3:

Twelve of the fourteen are still live for a clean +3. The two best placed are Hill and Iheanachor: both played in Week 8, both have their bye this week, and both need only three more.

Three things to watch. Ioane’s Week 9 is Thursday against Jacksonville, a short week off an MCL sprain. If Baltimore sits him again he drops to +1, and a second straight absence on that knee changes his whole season, not just November. Price’s workload is the second: twelve touches in his first game back, and if that holds through Weeks 9, 10 and 12, with the Week 11 bye shortening his month, he is a +3 candidate after looking like a write-off two weeks ago. Running back attrition is still the risk. The third is Mendoza, now effectively dead money for the boost. Las Vegas at 4–4 with Cousins playing his best football removes the only realistic path, and unless Cousins gets hurt, Mendoza finishes the season on +1 at best.
